White-Crusted Ambergris Wedge with Black Patches
This white-crusted ambergris wedge, black patches and a tan break, is genuine ambergris from my own photos at Ambergris Canada. I'm Nabil Valiulla, and I've assessed 4,678 specimens since 2004. If you've found something similar, anywhere in the world, send me photos and I'll help you identify and value it for free.
- Piece
- White-crusted ambergris wedge
- Notes
- Black patches and a tan break
A wedge-shaped piece of ambergris resting on a cloth bag and brown paper, with a floral sofa behind. A bright white crust covers much of it, broken by black patches, and one end has a flat, tan broken face where the inside shows. The mix of white, black and tan on one piece shows how varied the surface can be.

I post new pieces, field trips and identification tips on Instagram.

Most of what washes up is driftwood and stone. I post the pieces that aren't, and how I tell them apart.
