Ambergris with Embedded Squid Beaks
This ambergris with squid beaks, dark beaks set in a broken face, is genuine ambergris from my own photos at Ambergris Canada. I'm Nabil Valiulla, and I've assessed 4,678 specimens since 2004. If you've found something similar, anywhere in the world, send me photos and I'll help you identify and value it for free.

- Dark beaks set in a broken face
A rounded piece of ambergris held in the palm, broken open across one face. A band of small, dark, pointed squid beaks runs through the pale interior, framed by a darker brown and grey rind. Ambergris forms around hard squid beaks in the sperm whale's gut, so beaks like these are a clear sign I look for.

I post new pieces, field trips and identification tips on Instagram.

Most of what washes up is driftwood and stone. I post the pieces that aren't, and how I tell them apart.
